What should you watch out for when on holiday in Tenerife?

The first answer that immediately comes to mind is “be careful not to fall in love 😅 on the island, of course!”
But seriously, if you’re planning a vacation in Tenerife, there are a few things to watch out for!

Tenerife is a paradise on earth, but like every place, it has its specific things that are worth knowing about to avoid unpleasant situations. Here are my TOP 5 tips:

1️⃣ The sun that doesn’t forgive ☀️
The sun’s rays in Tenerife are intense all year round, even on cloudy days! Remember to use a high UV filter, a hat and drink plenty of water. Getting sunburned on vacation is no fun!

2️⃣ The ocean is not a swimming pool 🌊
The Atlantic can be treacherous – strong currents and high waves can surprise even experienced swimmers. Use beaches with lifeguards and pay attention to the color of the flag.

3️⃣ Beware of pickpockets and cars 🚗👛
Although Tenerife is a very safe island, there are cases of theft. Don’t leave valuables in your car and keep an eye on your wallet in crowded places, such as markets or promenades. Better safe than sorry!

4️⃣ Parking chaos 🚗
In larger cities, such as Santa Cruz or Las Américas, parking is an extreme sport. Beware of prohibitions, because having your car towed or getting a ticket is not a pleasant memory from your vacation.

5️⃣ Apartment rental scams 🏠
Before booking accommodation, make sure that the advert comes from a reliable source. Unfortunately, there are cases where “ghost” apartments do not actually exist. Read reviews and use platforms that offer security for guests.

💡 Pro tip: Be vigilant, but above all, enjoy every moment on this beautiful island! Tenerife is a magical place – all it takes is a little caution to make your stay perfect.
